Mille Lacs Lake, as we know it today, has had many names dating back to early 1800's.   

On documented Historical Maps, it can been found as

Mille Lac, Minni Sagaigoning, Spirit Lake and finally Misi-zaaga'igan.  

No matter what the name, this lake has been an vital part of the communities that have bordered it. 

Our Museum represents all the communities around Mille lacs Lake presently and in the past.
